Sofie de Klerk is a professional accordionist. She received her Bachelor accordion at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and completed the teacher training course Master New Audiences and Innovatice Practice in The Hague.
Sofie on working at Babel:
‘I never wanted to follow beaten paths and always felt like a stranger at the conservatory, at Babel everyone is who they are and you don’t have to fit into a particular box, that feels like coming home.’
Sofie made and performed among others:
- Swan song and Attached swan with duo Pas de Cygne for Boslab Theater Festival and Cafe Theater Festival Utrecht
- Kroegopera with soprano Jikke van der Velde for Cafe Theater Festival Zwolle (with honorable mention by the jury)
- The last lighthouse keeper for Grachtenfestival 2018
At Babel, Sofie starred in Het Concert by new creator Otto(line) Calmeijer Meijburg. She is also the leader of the Babel band together with composer Pascal Fontyn.
