In the academy of Theater Babel Rotterdam, we welcome everyone who wants to get experienced in (inclusive) theatre. We offer theatre classes for adults, train professionals with and without disabilities in the Theatertrain and develop a methodology for inclusive theatre in our centre of knowledge.
Adults can enter various theatre classes, which start each year in autumn and spring, and end with presentations during the festival weekend. There are classes for beginners as well as for experienced participants, about acting, directing, improvisation or making a show together. We like to think that there’s something for everyone, but if you can’t find what you’re looking for, let us know and we will think about it together with you.
During the theatre class you get to know our inclusive method of theatre making. Everyone is welcome in our classes, sometimes you get to meet an actor from our company in your class. Together with your classmates, you visit the Babel production of that year, and during the festival weekend we show presentations of the theatre classes and the company next to each other.
You can find everything about the theatre classes in autumn 2019 here.

Three days a week, our company’s actors train together in theatre, singing and movement. Next to that, they perform in productions, give shows for schools and theatre ateliers. Our actors work inclusively together and learn from each other. By reflecting on our work, we develop a methodology about how you do that, inclusive theatre making. All this together – the training, performing and researching together – is called the Theatertrain. Always on the move, because we keep learning from and with each other.

CENTRE OF KNOWLEDGE
Theater Babel Rotterdam is the national centre of knowledge for inclusive theatre in the Netherlands. Here we do research and share information on how to make inclusive theatre. In 2018, the platform ‘Inclusive Theater in the Netherlands’ was formed, that has as a goal to share knowledge in the area of inclusion in theatre and to connect professionals.
