Due to the current lockdown, theaters are temporarily not allowed to receive an audience. That is very unfortunate, but necessary for our health. Theaters are allowed to rehearse and live stream, and clients’ daily activities continue in the care sector. This means that Theater Babel Rotterdam cannot present the planned performances of Ik via de ander on Saturday 9 and 16 January to a live audience, but we can present it via live stream. And that’s exactly what we’re going to do, so that we can continue to share our work with our audience and even reach new viewers.
6 performers of Theater Babel Rotterdam settle down on your couch via the screen and share their own story through the other. Director Paul Röttger interviewed a family member of each performer about the performer. Together with writer Erik Ward Geerlings, Paul developed these interviews into monologues. The performers play what their family member has told about them, very openly, intimately, sometimes full of love, sometimes abrasive and painful.
